Day 42 - Weipa

The plan for today was to head up the coast to Cullen Point, just north of Mapoon. The bream fishing sounded like a dream come true.  Talking to one of the campers they said they had 23 fish in an hour.  Even if it was half right it sounds good, but we managed our expectations.

Leaving about 9:00, we were there about 10:15, the roads being Rio roads were excellent and 100 km/hr was easily handled.  We arrived and the south easter winds had already picked up, blowing a good 15-20 knots.  We rigged up anyway and within 10 minutes had the first bream in the bucket.  It took a little while to catch any of his friends but we ended up with 3 decent sized fish.  The wind got to the point where the casting was proving difficult.  We gave it a rest as the sand was now being blown across the beach, starting to sting the ankles.  Time to head home!

Once we got back home, the boys had lunch before making their way back to the pool with Dad.  Katie and Chris headed for the shops to get the groceries needed of the next three days.  We r heading further south so we needed supplies.

Dad and Chris went back out fishing, this time near where they load the Bauxite into the large container ships.  The ships hold between 70k and 90k each.  Current pricing of bauxite places the smaller sips cargo at 4.8million! We were successful again catching an additional 4 fish this time.  All bream.

The filleting process of the first three was a bit laborious, so out came YouTube to see how the pros do it.  The second set of fish fillets even looked liked fillets!  We had bought some instant batter from Woolies and in went the fillets!

We got back and the dinner menu read as follows :

Entree : Chicken stirfry ... Yum !, sorry no pictures

Battered fish

And top it off Kangaroo steaks.  Actually the kangaroo will be for wrap fillers while on the road tomorrow, tough I know.
