The north is a warm place

After Katherine we headed further north towards Darwin but took a detour through Litchfield NP as we had heard so many good things from people heading South.

It was an easy day driving wise with us being setup at the Florence falls camp ground by 1:30 ish. We real grey nomads now!

It was a lovely spot. After a bite to eat we headed down the 135 steps down the cliff face to descend into Florentce falls plunge pool.  What a stunning set of falls. The plunge pool was a bit chilly but refreshing as the humidity has certainly increased from Katherine.

We were still smiling at the top though.  It was happy hour time!

We had a lovely fire that evening with some entertaining fire support provided to a couple of germans travellers who rocked up next to us and thought that collecting leaves around the camp site by torch light would make a lasting fire.

The next morning we were continuing the drive through Litchfield stopping at a number of spots for walks and swims. The standout was Wangi Falls. Just a stunning plunge pool, warmer than Florence and crystal clear to about 8 metres.

We had a lovely swim there with the plunge pool more than catering for the volume of people that visit the park. You could still have you own little spot to paddle in.

After a splash for a while we continued to our next swimming destination at Berry Springs. This is outside of the NP and is known as a favourite haunt for many Darwinians. We thought we would be safe in a Friday. Turns out we weren't, with the carpark full and a spot for Ernie and Charlie at a premium. A quick bite to eat before our dip.

There are a number of pools here that are all connected but our favourite was the main pool. The boys were busy swimming around trying to catch fish. No net and yet they seem disappointed they didn't get any! Bizaar.

The waterfall pool, the main pool is a swim to your right

The main pool

We struggled to get the kids out of the pool but enticed them with "we leave here and we will then be in Darwin!"  Begrudingly they hopped out and we were on our way to the pointy end of our trip
